Tree Spirit
OG Kush × Pine-dominant Sativa
Tree Spirit is a sativa cultivar that emerged in the late 2010s, characterized by its complex forest aromatics and high potency. Developed by breeders in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, it gained recognition for its resin density and appealing scent profile.
Appearance
Tree Spirit produces medium-dense, spear-shaped colas with a moderate internodal spacing, resembling small woodland spires. The flowers display lime to forest green hues, sometimes with teal undertones, and feature apricot to copper pistils. A dense trichome blanket covers the bud surfaces, contributing to a glassy sheen after a proper dry and cure.
Aroma & Flavor
The aroma of Tree Spirit is dominated by sharp pine sap, fresh cedar, and sandalwood, evoking the scent of a conifer grove after rain. Underlying notes of peppered earthiness and dry-wood incense provide depth, with subtle hints of apple peel or blueberry skin detectable in some phenotypes. The flavor profile mirrors the aroma, offering a blend of pine, cedar, citrus, and earthy notes.
Effects
This sativa strain is recognized for delivering an uplifting and clarifying experience, often described as calm and focused. It is frequently associated with inducing a giggly and cheerful disposition, making it a popular choice for recreational enjoyment. The effects are generally balanced, avoiding excessive sedation.
Terpenes & Cannabinoids
Tree Spirit typically exhibits high THC content, ranging from 27-29%, with less than 1% CBD. The terpene profile is rich, commonly falling within the 1.8% to 3.0% range. Key terpenes include Limonene, Caryophyllene, Pinene, and Humulene, contributing to its distinct aroma and effects. The high resin density also makes it favorable for concentrate extraction.
Origins & Lineage
Tree Spirit is believed to be a hybrid resulting from a cross between an OG-leaning Kush and a pine-dominant sativa, followed by backcrossing. This lineage contributes to its earthy undertones and squat structure from the Kush, and its bright, uplifting qualities and pine aroma from the sativa parent. It was stabilized into a seed line around 2021 by a breeder collective.
Cultivation
Considered grower-friendly, Tree Spirit exhibits moderate stretch (1.5x to 2x) and manageable internodal spacing, appealing to both hobbyists and commercial cultivators. It performs well in controlled indoor environments and greenhouse programs, responding positively to low-stress training. The strain demonstrates stable genetics, predictable nutrient uptake, and consistent yields under competent cultivation.
