Critical Jack Fast
Critical × Jack Herer
Critical Jack Fast is a photoperiod cultivar developed for rapid flowering, combining the high yields of Critical with the clear-headed effects of Jack Herer. It offers a noticeable uplift and smooth body relief, making it suitable for daytime use.
Appearance
Plants typically grow into medium-tall bushes with a prominent central cola and well-developed secondary branches. Indoor plants reach 90-140 cm, while outdoor plants can grow 2-3 meters. The foliage is mid-green with a mix of broad and narrow leaf shapes. Buds form elongated spears with dense calyxes, moderate foxtailing under stress, and generous trichome coverage, primarily on bracts and sugar leaves.
Buds are usually lime to forest green, accented by fiery orange pistils. Subtle purple hues may appear on sugar leaves under cool temperatures late in flowering. The high calyx-to-leaf ratio simplifies trimming and contributes to visual appeal after curing.
Aroma & Flavor
The aroma is characterized by a bright terpinolene top note, evoking lemon zest, pine needles, and fresh herbs. Underlying notes include sweet wood, cedar, and a spicy hint from caryophyllene, with a faint sweetness derived from its Critical lineage. Grinding intensifies the herbal-pine notes and may reveal subtle floral nuances.
On the palate, flavors mirror the aroma with leading notes of lemon and pine, followed by a clean, slightly sweet woodiness. The finish often includes a peppery sensation and a lingering herbal aftertaste. The aroma is potent, requiring carbon filtration for indoor cultivation.
Effects
Consumers can expect a bright, clean uplift accompanied by smooth body relief that is noticeable but not incapacitating. This makes Critical Jack Fast a viable daytime option for many users, particularly when consumed in lower to moderate doses.
Terpenes & Cannabinoids
Terpene expression often features terpinolene dominance, balanced by significant amounts of beta-caryophyllene, beta-pinene, myrcene, and limonene. THC levels typically range from the high teens to the low 20s. CBD content is low, usually below 1%, though minor cannabinoids like CBG are frequently present around 0.3-1.0%.
Growing
Critical Jack Fast is a photoperiod strain with a shortened flowering time, typically finishing indoors in 49-55 days. Outdoor harvests are often ready in early to mid-September in temperate regions. Growers report indoor yields of 500-650 g/m² under efficient lighting, with outdoor plants potentially exceeding 700 g per plant.
The plant exhibits vigorous growth with strong lateral branching and a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, making it relatively forgiving and suitable for commercial operations and shorter growing seasons. It benefits from early training, especially outdoors.
Origins & Lineage
Critical Jack Fast is a cross between Critical and Jack Herer, with a genetic contribution from early-flowering genetics to accelerate bloom time. Critical itself is a lineage of Big Bud and Skunk No. 1, known for high yields and citrus-skunk aromas. Jack Herer contributes its signature terpinolene-dominant profile and stimulating effects.
The 'Fast' designation comes from a breeding strategy incorporating genetics that shorten the photoperiod flowering time by approximately 1-2 weeks compared to traditional versions, reducing risks associated with late-season mold in humid climates.
