Connoisseur Genetics Sssdh
Super Silver Haze × Sour Diesel
SSSDH, or Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze, is a sativa-leaning cultivar developed by Connoisseur Genetics. It combines classic haze and diesel genetics to produce a high-vigor plant with a potent fuel-incense aroma and a long-lasting cerebral effect profile.
Appearance and Structure
This cultivar typically develops elongated, spear-shaped colas with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, which can make trimming more efficient. The buds feature stacked calyces that may develop airy foxtails under intense light or heat. Trichomes are abundant, giving the lime to olive-green bracts a frosty appearance, while pistils mature from pale to amber or rusty orange.
SSSDH plants have a more open canopy structure with slightly longer internodes compared to indica-dominant varieties. When trained properly, they tend to produce large central colas alongside strong, well-lit side branches.
Aroma and Flavor
The aroma of SSSDH is characterized by a sharp, fuel-like scent upfront, followed by notes of lemon zest and woody incense. Some users detect a metallic twang often associated with haze strains, blended with a polished cedar aroma. As the flowers mature, a sour diesel intensity emerges, sometimes described as fermented citrus or white grape skin.
On the palate, SSSDH often presents with clean lemon and diesel flavors, accompanied by bright pine notes that transition into dry incense and hints of eucalyptus. The mid-palate features sour citrus rind and white pepper, with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of candied lemon peel. The exhale typically leaves a lingering incense, cedar, and a slightly astringent grapefruit pith finish.
Effects
SSSDH is known for its energizing and mood-elevating cerebral effects that typically manifest within minutes of consumption. Users often experience a surge of creative ideation, enhanced focus, and increased social energy, making it suitable for daytime activities. The duration of effects is generally between two to three hours.
Physiological effects are generally less pronounced than those of heavy indicas, with some users reporting mild muscle relaxation and a slight sensation around the head. Significant couchlock is uncommon unless consumed in very high doses.
Terpenes and Cannabinoids
The terpene profile of SSSDH is often led by terpinolene and limonene, supported by beta-caryophyllene and beta-myrcene. Pinene, ocimene, and humulene are commonly present, with occasional traces of linalool. Some phenotypes may also contain volatile sulfur compounds that contribute to the distinct fuel aroma.
THC content typically ranges from 18% to 26%, with CBD levels generally below 1%. Minor cannabinoids like CBG and THCV may also be present in varying amounts, contributing to the overall cannabinoid profile.
Growing
This cultivar is noted for its high vigor and a tendency to stretch significantly during the initial weeks of flowering, often 1.5 to 2.0 times its height. It requires approximately 10 to 11 weeks of indoor flowering time, with outdoor harvests typically occurring from mid to late October in temperate climates. The plant’s structure favors open spacing and can produce large, spear-shaped colas.
SSSDH is considered moderately difficult to grow, requiring attention to its sativa-like growth habits and flowering period. Proper cultivation, drying, and curing are essential for achieving optimal terpene and cannabinoid expression.
Origins and Lineage
SSSDH was developed by Connoisseur Genetics by crossing elite Super Silver Haze and Sour Diesel lines. Super Silver Haze contributes genetics from Skunk #1, Northern Lights #5, and Haze, bringing citrus and incense notes along with mental clarity. Sour Diesel, believed to have roots in Chemdawg and Super Skunk, provides potent fuel aromas and assertive vigor.
The resulting hybrid typically exhibits 70–90% sativa expression, inheriting elongated internodes and a late-flowering sativa characteristic from Super Silver Haze, while Sour Diesel contributes denser bud structure and a more immediate onset of effects.
