Auto Haze by Female Seeds
Haze × Cannabis Ruderalis
Auto Haze by Female Seeds is an autoflowering cultivar that blends classic Haze genetics with Cannabis ruderalis. It offers the energetic and cerebral qualities associated with sativas within a manageable, age-based flowering cycle. This strain is noted for its resilience and adaptability, making it suitable for various growing environments.
Appearance
Auto Haze typically grows to a medium-tall stature, often reaching 80–120 cm indoors and potentially up to 150 cm outdoors. Its structure is upright with internodal spacing characteristic of sativa-leaning plants, forming long, tapering flower spears. The buds are generally lime to medium green, adorned with numerous orange to tangerine pistils that mature to a rust color. A high calyx-to-leaf ratio is common, contributing to good airflow and easier trimming. Dense trichome coverage develops from around week six, often giving sugar leaves a frosted appearance by week eight.
Foxtailing can occur, especially under intense lighting or high temperatures, which may indicate continued resin development. Proper environmental controls can help maintain a more compact floral structure.
Aroma & Flavor Profile
The aroma of Auto Haze is reminiscent of classic Haze, featuring notes of citrus zest, pine resin, and a sweet, incense-like fragrance. Herbal spice and fresh wood undertones are also present. The dominant terpene, terpinolene, often contributes a bright, floral, and tangy top note. Other contributing terpenes like limonene and ocimene enhance the citrus and green aspects, while caryophyllene and humulene add spicy, peppery notes.
When consumed, the flavor profile typically starts with lemon-lime and sweet pine, evolving into notes of sandalwood and a clean herbal finish. Vaporization may accentuate the citrus and floral characteristics, while combustion can bring out more of the woody and spicy elements.
Effects
Auto Haze is known for delivering a clear, upbeat, and energetic effect profile. Users often report experiencing cerebral stimulation, which can foster creativity. The overall experience is characterized by a sense of euphoria and mental brightness, aligning with its sativa heritage.
Terpenes & Cannabinoids
This strain typically exhibits THC levels ranging from the mid-teens to the high-teens, commonly around 18%, with CBD content usually below 1%. Minor cannabinoids like CBG may be present in small amounts. The terpene profile is often highlighted by terpinolene and limonene, with contributions from ocimene, caryophyllene, and humulene.
Total cannabinoid content in well-grown and cured samples often falls between 16–22%. The terpene concentration can exceed 1.5% by dry weight when the flower is properly dried and cured.
Growing
As an autoflowering strain, Auto Haze flowers based on age rather than light cycles, making it adaptable to various climates and indoor setups. It is considered moderately easy to grow, with plants typically completing their lifecycle from seed to harvest in approximately 11–14 weeks (or 80–95 days from sprout). Indoor yields can range from 350–500 g/m², while outdoor plants may produce 60–150 g per plant under favorable conditions.
The cultivar is noted for its resilience and adaptability across different growing media and environments. It generally prefers consistent conditions, and while it exhibits sativa-leaning growth, the ruderalis genetics help to manage its overall size and lifecycle compared to traditional photoperiod Haze varieties.
Origins & Lineage
Auto Haze was developed by Female Seeds by integrating classic Haze genetics with Cannabis ruderalis. The original Haze lineage traces back to California in the 1970s, believed to be a blend of sativa landraces from regions like Colombia, Mexico, and Thailand. The incorporation of ruderalis provides the autoflowering trait, enabling the plant to flower based on maturity rather than photoperiod.
Female Seeds is known for stabilizing genetics, aiming to reduce phenotype variation often seen in earlier autoflowering strains. This results in a more predictable cultivar that retains the desired sativa characteristics of Haze while offering the convenience of autoflowering.
